Do You Have a List of Things You’d Never Do? Perfect

We all have an unwritten list of things we’ve already decided are simply “not for us.”

“I could never travel alone.”
“I’m not adventurous.”
“I’m not good at meeting new people.”
“I could never dance in front of everyone.”
“I prefer to stick with what I know.”

We say these things as if they’re fixed facts about who we are.

But what if they’re not?

What if they’re simply things we haven’t tried yet?

When Did We Decide Something Was “Not for Us”?

Sometimes, we confuse:

“I’ve never tried this before”

with:

“This isn’t for me.”

The first leaves the door open. The second closes it before we’ve even had the chance to see what might be waiting on the other side.

Over time, we begin creating a very specific version of ourselves:

I’m shy.
I’m not adventurous.
I don’t travel alone.
I don’t do spontaneous things.

But who we are isn’t a fixed list of rules.

Sometimes, all it takes is a new place to discover a side of ourselves we never knew was there.

What Happens When We Step Outside Our Routine?

In everyday life, almost everything feels familiar: our work, the people around us, the places we go, our schedules—even the way we spend our weekends.

But when we travel, the question changes from:

“What do I usually do?”

to:

“What do I want to experience today?”

And that’s where things can get interesting.

You might swim somewhere you never imagined yourself stepping into.

You might sit around a table with people who were complete strangers just days ago, laughing as though you’ve known each other for years.

You might finally try the adventure you’ve always watched from a distance.

Or maybe you’ll dance without thinking for a second about how you look.

Not because you suddenly became someone else…

but because you finally gave another part of yourself the chance to show up.

Maybe All You Need Is One “Yes”

You don’t have to do everything that scares you.

Sometimes, you just need one small “yes.”

Yes, I’ll try it.
Yes, I’ll get in the water.
Yes, I’ll talk to someone new.
Yes, I’ll join the adventure instead of watching from the sidelines.

And yes, maybe I’ll laugh at myself while I’m doing it.

Because some of the best stories begin with:

“I wasn’t even planning to do that.”

Now Imagine Yourself in Mexico…

You wake up in Tulum, somewhere that feels completely removed from your everyday life.

Turquoise water. A boat waiting. New adventures. New faces. Days that haven’t been planned down to every last detail.

And somewhere along the way, you may find yourself doing something the old version of you would have immediately responded to with:

“Me? Never.”

And then you laugh…

because you actually did it.

Before Your Next Adventure…

Write down five things you usually say:

“I could never do that.”

Then, next to each one, ask yourself:

Is this really not for me—or have I simply never given myself the chance to try?

You don’t have to change every answer.

But maybe one “never” becomes:

“Why not?”

And that one “why not?” might become the beginning of one of the best stories you’ll tell someday.

Because the most interesting version of your life might be waiting just beyond the things you keep saying:

“I could never do that.”
